...and other thingsThis is a page for me to express various thoughts that may be on my mind. Perhaps a joke someone sent to me, an inspirational or encouraging word, a story or even a recipe, you just never know what you might read here.
June 19 Happy Mother's Day and Happy Father's Day! Ok, so I am super late in the mommy's day greeting... but all the same, a big thank you to you and to those filling the roles as mom and dad. Otherwise, here's the short update on me, the unhealthy one. ;) Things are not better even though I wish they were. I am vomiting more and pretty much stay wiped out. The dizziness along with it all makes it hard to stay upright for long. No point in going on and on about all that. I try so hard to keep my spirits up and not become a sad sorry girl. It is a monster huge effort. I take comfort in the thought that I know I give it all I have. I certainly hope you all have lots of fun and wonderful things planned for your Summer. I can hardly wait to hear every little exciting detail that you have! :) February 2 I've had lots of time to read magazines lately (tons of them in doctors offices). If I am not sick as a cat, I'm in a doctors office. January 19 So, I kinda missed Christmas and New Years. Judas Priest life is so messed up for me. Enough of that and on to talking about other stuff and such. December 17 Ok, only 8 more days till Christmas. Are you ready?!? November 27 We are now heavily into my favorite time of the year. It is pretty much perfect outdoors here lately as we have had warm days and cool nights that turn to that neat-o crispy edge when the sun goes down. Today is the day to be glad and although things in my life (health and everything it touches) are not going the way I would ever plan or sign up for, I still have lots to be thankful about. First off, we have each other. Maybe it sounds all corny but I cannot imagine going through life without my around-the-world pals. It's good. :) I bet you guessed correctly.. I am in charge of deviled eggs again this year, those people cut me no slack at all! LOL It's ok, the Mister helped me out this time and I am thankful for that. See, it's the little things that make life good. So, you be careful out there traveling and eating till you pop. I care about you and I just think you rock. (((big 'ol bear hugs, but not so much that you puke your dinner on me)))) Love to All! September 23 You know how when things are hella-crazy in your life for whatever reason, the time goes by strange to you but to other folks that are on the outside, time is going by normal for them? For me, this has been a real icky-yuck-nasty time. The fevers have been relentless, the puking gross and intestinal infection, zero fun. So, time for me has been weird. The good news is that it's what?? It's Happy Autumn Time! That's right, welcome to Fall, the bestest time of the year. The smell is just right, even things that seem bad can be made better by a good whiff of pumpkin spice and hot cocoa or the smell of a campfire. Even the changing leaf colors are inspiring! Hot diggity dog, I am so happy about the cooler weather arriving. Moe is happy to have leaves to flop over in when he goes outdoors to patrol his Kingdom. ;) So tell me, what's been happening with you? Have you been doing fun things with your off time? Has work been good? Be a chatty monkey and let me know on the message board! August 5 I may be quiet on the outside, but I have not been quiet on the inside.. inside meaning "in my head". My brain has been whirling all around just dealing with my icky health which has been in more decline.. but that's all I'm going to say 'bout that. Now, let us talk about something good. You! You're something good! How have you been? Dealing well with life and the maddening heat of Summer? Are you going on vacation? Well... hey, Welcome to August which means another step closer to glorious Fall weather, my favorite. :) Now that I have my fingers-o-typing again, I'll try to talk a bit more. You just know how much I hate to gab about non-pleasant things. Onward ho to the month of ummmmm.. no snow! LOL June 23 My goodness, the weather has turned so hot out! Here in Hot'Lanta, there are two things you do not want to mix, heat and rain. We have been having both which has turned everybody into a grouch. It is either raining buckets or it stops long enough for the sun to come out and make it feel like a sauna.. again, wet is nice for some things but it's bad with Atlanta heat. ;) Ok, so anyway, WELCOME TO SUMMER!! Are you reading the latest JK Rowling book, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix? I am, I have such fun reading the series. It is a lovely form of escape to me. June 16 A very happy" Big-Daddy" day to all those fellows out there and of course love to all those other people filling the very important role. :) May 28 So.. I am on my last 2 days of medication for another, yes another, GI infection. The fever and body pain this time has been rougher than usual. Hopefully by the weekend I will be feeling better.. well, better than I do at the moment anyway. I hope everyone had a memorable Memorial Day this year. Thank you to our men and women for your labor of love to guard our fine country. :) May 22 Do you sing to yourself, like maybe when you're in the shower or driving in your car? Sometimes when I am in traffic and it's really stressful, I hum to myself childhood stuff like tunes from Mary Poppins. When nobody is around, I sing in the shower sometimes. I find 80's tunes to be the most fun like, Let's Wait Awhile by Janet Jackson. Moe likes to be sung to when there is lightning and thunder booming outside as it calms him down. Guess a nice cuddle and soft song can soothe anyone's nerves.. even a dog. :) May 12 A most happy Mothers Day to all this year... at some point in our lives, someone has been a mom to us all. Thank you! May 6 You know how I am always trying to figure out the perfect way to peel boiled eggs so that I won't cut myself or rip up the egg? Well, I found this tip in Southern Living magazine and thought I would share it with those of you who also need help when you have to make the eggs. Here is what they said: Remove the cooked eggs from heat and pour off the water. Add 1 inch cold water and several ice cubes to the saucepan, (it's ok if the inside of the eggs are still warm.) cover the pot and shake vigorously so that the eggs crack all over. Peel under cold running water starting at the large end - the air pocket there will give you something to grip. I have not tried this method as yet but I wanted to share it with you before I forgot. Happy Peeling! :) April 15 Is your tummy crammed into knots because today is tax day? If so, then have a cracker! Usually when my tummy is upset I just eat a normal 'ol Saltine, but I have recently discovered a new flavor from Nabisco. It's Cheddar Triscuit and it's way good. At 130 calories for just 6 of the things, be careful you don't eat the entire box up! :) April 1 So, today is April Fools day. Did anyone play any jokes on you or were you the giver of tricks? I did not dish any up this year, but a co-worker sent me a loud poot. Yes, I said poot, same thing as fart but sounds nicer when said I think. He called me up and then let it rip. We had a good giggle over the call. Why is it that guys love to poot so much? ;) March 21 If you would like to watch me sleep.. or rather watch me toss and turn, tune in to the AugustLive page. Most nights, the cam will be on around 7pm and go off around 7am. The angle and times will adjust as needed. I thought maybe I would sleep better if I knew you were sleeping there with me too. :) March 10 Remember that cool new thing I told you that I am working on? I am still pokin' at it. At first I thought "it" was gonna win, meaning it just was not going to work out at all. But things turned a corner yesterday and it appears to be a go! So, that means in the next day or two, you will get to see it. I am excited about it cause I believe it to be nifty. :) February 18 Ohmygosh my hair smells *SO* good!! I used Burts Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment with Nettles and Rosemary. Even a perfect stranger said he could smell me from where he stood (in a good way of course). You put this stuff on after you shampoo. You leave the "butter" in place and go on with the rest of your bathing. Then when you are ready to get out of the water, you go ahead and rinse. It is just luscious I tell ya! February 17 First off, hope your Valentine's Day was lovely. An extra-large "you're welcome" to the folks who were in the first 20 people to sign up for a Valentine's Day card from yours forever (that's me, by the way). Glad the card made it to you and very glad it put a smile on your face as it was all my pleasure. Maybe next year I'll be able to do more than the 20.. maybe double it to 40. Never know... Secondly, there is of course, a new set in the members gallery for Valentine's Day. You can stop in and see that when you have a moment. Lastly, I am working on a cool new something. If it works out, then you'll get to see it. If not, then I'll be the only one lookin! LOL Ok, so that pretty much wraps up what's going on with me. How's it going for you? January 15 Did you promise yourself that this year would be different? Did you make "New Year" resolutions? Not me.. I decided to stay calm and focused but not to promise myself anything. Being un-well (ill) is a challenge itself. Internally I know things that I want to do or that I need to do, but I didn't get out that sheet of paper to write all the vows on. This year just has to be better.. or else! LOL :) January 1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :) Today is the Sugar Bowl and naturally I am rooting for my Georgia Bulldogs to bring home the win. So, what did you do last night? Go to parties or just stay at home and ring it in quietly? I was one of those in the quiet group. Too much noise going on lately in my life so I was happy to stay in. I'll watch the game tonight of course and yell lots for my Super Duper Dawgs! ;)
